Jack M Champaigne (1966)
Jack Roe Champaigne was my uncle. He graduated from Central in 1942. He was the manager at the State Theater in South Bend. My brother Jim and I while rumaging through my grandmother's garage found a box of office "things" including rubber stamps with "Win", "Place", and "Show. He was a bookie. He once told me he would get tip when the police would conduct a raid and he would unplug all of the telephones and place them out back in the trash cans.
He later managed the Moonlight theater in South Bend and Jim and I worked there in the concession stand. We were not old enough for work permits. Somehow that was overlooked. I remember hearing that Uncle Jack was stood up at the Alter but that's all I remember. He died a bachelor.
