Lloyd Thomas Stites, 83, of 95th Avenue, Sister Lakes, Mich., died at 11 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 10, 2005, in his home of natural causes. Lloyd was born in Evansville, Indiana, on November 18, 1921. During his early childhood, his family moved to South Bend, Indiana, where he attended Nooner Grade School and South Bend Central High School.

After graduating from Central, Lloyd worked for 42 years at Bendix in South Bend in both the brake and aerospace divisions. In 1982 he retired to Dowagiac, to the cottage that he built during the 1950s (his little castle). He was preceded in death by his parents, Sophie Glunt and Sylvester Stites; and by his two brothers, Peter Stites and Robert Glunt. Surviving our two sons, Dennis and his wife, Frannie Stites of Dowagiac, and Tom and his wife, Patty Stites of Norfolk, VA.; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. 

Lloyd loved to talk and visit with friends and strangers. He was never shy when it came to voicing his opinions. Although he was cantankerous at times, his smile will be missed by those who knew him. Lloyd passed away on Thursday, February 10, in his home. His family is being assisted by the Groner Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
