LUCILLE (SOMERS) HARDMAN-WAGGONER

SOUTH BEND - Lucille (Somers) Hardman-Waggoner, 87, of Southfield Village in South Bend, IN, died on Wednesday, March 25, 2009 in St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, South Bend, following a brief illness. She was born on October 29, 1921 to the late Frank L and Sophie (Klosowski) Somers in South Bend, IN, and was a lifelong area resident. Along with her parents; one sister, Adeline Coleman; and one brother, Robert Somers also preceded her in death.

Mrs. Hardman-Waggoner retired in the early 1990's from the Federal Government, where she worked for the Department of the Navy and then the Veterans Hospital in Nashville, TN. Prior to that, she was employed with the former Bendix Corporation in South Bend.

Lucille graduated from South Bend Central High School in 1940.

On June 19, 1943, as Lucille M. Somers, she married Richard N. Hardman at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in South Bend, IN. Richard died on May 15, 1978. She then married Lewis Waggoner in Nashville, TN, who passed away in 1992. She is survived by her sons, Howard (Sue) Hardman of Fishers, IN; Bruce (Margie) Hardman of Orange Park, FL; two grandchildren, Brian Hardman of St. Petersburg, FL; Jeffery Hardman of Orange Park, FL; two great-grandchildren, Trevor and Noelle Hardman, and one sister, Joan Brugh of South Bend, IN.

Visitation will be from 5-8 PM today, March 27, 2009 and one hour prior to services on Saturday, March 28, 2009, both at Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, IN. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, March 28, 2009 at Kaniewski Funeral Home. Private burial will take place at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to: Memorial and Honor Program, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942.
