SOUTH BEND - Albert B. Putnam, 68, of 1513 N. Olive St., died about 10:15 p.m. Wednesday in his home after an illness. Mr. Putnam retired in 1981 from the Bendix Corp. after 40 years of service and was an employee of Martin's Supermarket. He was born Jan. 16, 1921, in South Bend and was a lifelong area resident.

On Sept. 12, 1942, in South Bend, he married Irma Livengood. She survives with two daughters, Janet Langston of Waterloo, Iowa, and Patricia Gerndt of Granger; a son, Michael of South Bend; five grandchildren; and a brother, Cecil of McAllen, Texas.

He was a member of Sumption Prairie United Methodist Church and South Bend Masonic Lodge 294. He was a veteran of World War II.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Welsheimer Funeral Home, 521 N. William St. Burial will be at Sumption Prairie Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today in the funeral home, where Masonic memorial services will be at 7 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of St. Joseph County Inc. or the American Cancer Society
