GEORGETTA (KALAMARAS) FADDEN

Georgetta Fadden STATESVILLE Mrs. Georgetta Fadden, 88, of Statesville, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 3, 2011 at her daughter's home surrounded by her family after several months of failing health.

Georgetta was born in 1922 in Canton, Ohio to the late Thomas and Margaret Togweiller Kalamaras and then was raised in South Bend, Ind., where she graduated from Central Senior High School in 1940.

As a young woman she moved to Miami, Fla. Georgetta took a secretarial position in Trinidad, BWI, where she met Col. Vernon James Fadden, whom she married in Miami, Fla. in 1944 and he later passed away in 1989.

Georgetta enjoyed a wonderful life of world-wide travel and lived abroad for many years as an Army wife. She was President of International Conference of American Women's Activities and was Chairperson of the American Red Cross in Munich. Her many activities included bridge club, bowling coach and singing in the church choir.

Upon her return to the States in 1972, she lived many years in Miami, Fla., where she held various jobs including night auditor, executive secretary and retail sales. In 1989 Georgetta moved to Statesville, to be near her two youngest daughters. She worked for ten years at the local Belk's Department Store in ladies accessories and fine jewelry. She enjoyed the water exercises and fellowship at the YMCA in Statesville.

Georgetta is survived by her five devoted sons and daughters and seven cherished grandchildren, James Fadden and his wife, Jonelle, and their children Michael and Michelle Fadden of Issaquah, Wash., Arthur Fadden and his wife, Darlene, and their children, Kris and Cindy Fadden of Palm Coast, Fla.; Susan Fadden of Cripple Creek, Co. and her daughter, Rebecca Rahn of Merritt Island, Fla., Pamela Stall and her husband, Jeff, of Stoney Creek and Rebecca Boggs and her husband, Chet, and their children, Alison and Sam Boggs of Statesville; her sister, Elaine Chipman of Orlando, Fla; and countless other family and friends who were blessed to have known her.

She can be remembered best for her devotion to her family and her beautiful smile.

The family will conduct a private memorial service at a later date.
