Dan L Erhardt - Class Of 1940 VIEW PROFILE

Dan L Erhardt

Daniel Lon “Duke” Erhardt

A friend to all, Daniel Lon Erhardt died May 22, 2007 at his residence in Madison, Indiana. He was born in South Bend, Indiana and would have been 85 on August 13, 2007. He attended South Bend Central High and Indiana University where he was a member of Phi Gamma Delta fraternity. He continued to be an avid fan of IU his entire life.

He lived in Indiana most of his life and enjoyed every minute. Traveling the state as a pharmaceutical salesman, he kept in contact with all of his many friends and made many more. Every Christmas Duke dressed up as Santa and entertained countless young wide-eyed children - it is a toss-up as to who enjoyed it most, Duke or the children.

He was the manager of the Holiday Inn in Shelbyville, Indiana and then manager of the Inn at Clifty Falls State Park in Madison, Indiana. He was an Army veteran of World War II.

He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Barbara Meiser Erhardt; two sisters: Mary LaPierre of South Bend and Virginia Noyes of Barrington, Illinois; seven step-children: Vickie Meiser Darnell, Kristi Meiser Jonas, Greg Meiser, Marc Meiser, Patti Meiser Keaton, Terri Meiser Willard and Sherri Meiser Tucker; twenty grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Grace Erhardt of South Bend.

Memorial services will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, June 9, 2007 at the Lytle Funeral Chapel. The Honor Guard of Jefferson Post #9, American Legion, Madison, will conduct funeral honors following the memorial service.
