Dora I. (Barks) Moffett

July 17, 1922 - Feb. 2, 1998

NEW CARLISLE — Dora Irene Moffett, 75, of Lynn Street, New Carlisle, Ind., died at 8:40 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 2, in St. Joseph Medical Center, Fort Wayne, Ind., from complications of bums suffered in a house fire on Dec. 22, 1997. Mrs. Moffett was born on July 17, 1922, in South Bend, Ind., to Clarence T. and Ada (Suit) Barks.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Atley, who she married in South Bend on Dec. 3, 1945.

Having lived in two houses her entire life, she is survived by her children, Irene Wozniak of New Carlisle, George of Lakeville, Ind., and Kathy Deer of Greencastle, Ind.; 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; two brothers, Clarence T. and Edward R. Barks, sisters, Alice Knox and Edna Thompson, both of Winter Haven, Fla.

Dora struggled long and hard to recover but was called home by her Lord and Savior to be with Him. She will be sorely missed by those who knew and loved her. Dora was a member of the Prairie Gardens Christian Fellowship Church in New Carlisle.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today in the Welsheimer Funeral Home, 521 N. William Street, with Rev. Robert Baird officiating. Friends may call from noon to 2 p.m. today in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Olive Chapel Cemetery, New Carlisle.
