MISHAWAKA — Annajane Puterbaugh, 90, of the Valley View Health Care Center, Elkhart, Ind., and formerly of Tanglewood Lane, Mishawaka, Ind., died at 7:30 p.m. on March 21, 1998. Born on Sept. 19, 1907, to Myron D. and Jessica T. (Faulknor) Puterbaugh, Annajane had lived in the South Bend/Mishawaka area her entire life. She taught business and home economics in the South Bend schools and retired from John Adams High School.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Myron D. Puterbaugh in December 1997. Her sister-in-law, Hazel W. Puterbaugh, died on May 8, 1998.

She is survived by two nephews, Richard A. (Marcia) Puterbaugh of Mishawaka and David W. (Jan) Puterbaugh of Alliance, Ohio; a niece, Sara A. (Ted) Pinkerton of Hamilton, Ohio; eight great-nieces and nephews, Judson, John and Eric Puterbaugh, Candace Brown, Nicholas Hartley, Jill Metcalfe, Jennifer Gray and Peter Adams; and by six great-great-nieces and nephews. 

Miss Puterbaugh was a graduate of South Bend Central High School, South Bend College of Commerce, Ball State Teachers College and Indiana State University at Terre Haute. She was a member of the First Church of Christ Science, South Bend, serving In many roles including reader, treasurer and secretary, and also belonging to The Mother Church in Boston, Mass. She was a member of the American Association of University Women, the Delta Kappa Gamma Society, St. Joseph County Retired Teachers, and the Art Association in South Bend.

Friends are welcome to attend a celebration of life service at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 13, at the Welsheimer Funeral Home North, 17033 Cleveland Road, South Bend. Contributions may be made in Annajane's memory to the First Church of Christ Scientist, 1237 N. Ironwood, South Bond, IN 46615.
