Helen M. (Szalay) Carswell

MISHAWAKA Helen M. Carswell, 71, of 1324 E. Mishawaka Ave., died at 7 a.m. Sunday in her home. Mrs. Carswell retired in 1979 from Bendix Corp. She was born March 14, 1920, in South Bend and was a lifelong area resident.

On Nov. 24, 1960, in South Bend, as Helen M. Szalay, she married Richard A. Carswell. He survives with four sisters, Madalyn Szalay and Barbara Szalay, both of South Bend, Mary Redpath of Eugene, Ore., and Theresa White of Roseville, Calif.; and a brother, Steven Szalay of Edwardsburg.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Monica's Catholic Church. Entombment will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, Osceola. Friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. today at Bubb Funeral Chapel North, 3910 N. Main St., where a wake will be at 4:45 p.m
