Stanley W. Hojnacki
March 23, 1920 - March 31, 2005
Stanley W. Hojnacki, 85, of Ribourde Drive, South Bend, passed away on Thursday, March 31, 2005, in Memorial Hospital, South Bend. Stanley was born on March 23, 1920, in South Bend, to the late Lucyan and Aneila "Angie" (Badowski) Hojnacki, and was a lifelong area resident.
On November 6, 1948, he married Dorothy R. Dobbs, who survives. Along with his wife of 56 years, he is also survived by a nephew, Richard (Louise) Hojnacki of South Bend, and their children, David, Lori and Paul; and by a niece, Shirley (Charles) Klein of South Bend, and their children, Mark and Brian.
Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, Walter Hojnacki; his sister, Irene Hojnacki; and by his brother, Bronsilaw Hojnacki, who died as a child.
Mr. Hojnacki worked for South Bend Lathe for five years before leaving for the Army of the United States to serve his country in World War II. He was a mobile radar signal repairman in the South Pacific. When he returned from the service, he was the co-owner of the Flavorite Bake Shop for 28 years with his brother, Walter. He returned to South Bend Lathe for another 10 years as a tool maker and retired in 1986. Stanley was a parishioner of Holy Cross Catholic Church, South Bend, a member of the American Legion Pulaski Post 357, and was a life member of the Polish Businessmen and Professional Men Organization. Stanley enjoyed spending his time fishing and traveling.
Visitation will be from 2 to 8 PM Monday, April 4, 2005, in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, where a parish Rosary will be recited at 4 PM. A funeral Mass for Stanley will be celebrated at 1 1 AM Tuesday, April 5, 2005, in Holy Cross Church, with burial to follow at Highland Cemetery.
