Phyllis Marie (Smith) Kuboske

SOUTH BEND - Mrs. Phyllis Marie (Smith) Kuboske, 90, of South Bend passed away peacefully at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center with family at her side after suffering a massive stroke. Phyllis was born in Whiting, IN on July 17, 1921 to the late Russell Frank and Beatrice (Hollinger) Smith.

She was a January 1939 graduate of the former Central High School in South Bend.

On Valentines Day 1942 she married Lon Joseph Kuboske. He passed away on September 21, 1997.

She was a Supervisor at Indiana Bell Telephone Co. before she started her family. Later in life she returned to work at Cressy & Everett as a Realtor. She was a long time member of St. Joseph Parish, South Bend. She was a member of various clubs and organizations throughout her life.

She is survived by her two daughters, Patricia A. Kuboske of Cassopolis, MI and Karen A. (John C.) Karason of South Bend; a grandson, Michael J. Karason of South Bend; a sister, Betty H. Paulk of Sequim, WA; a sister-in-law, Mary E. Chadwick of Grand Rapids, MI and many nieces and nephews.

A brother, Russell F. Smith, Jr., preceded her in death.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday at 10 am at St. Joseph Catholic Church, South Bend with Rev. John Patrick Riley, CSC, Associate Pastor, officiating. Cremation will follow at American Cremation Society. Friends may call on Sunday from 3-7 pm in the McGann Hay Funeral Home, University Chapel, 2313 E. Edison Rd. near Ironwood.
