Charles Franklyn Romine

Dec. 8, 1920 - Oct. 16, 1999

Charles F. Romine, 78, of Turtle Court, Elkhart, Ind., formerly of Adams Road, South Bend, Ind., died at 10:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 16, in his residence.

He was born on Dec. 8, 1920, in Goodland, Ind., to Nina (Goldner) and Charles W. Romine, both of whom preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Esther Keen and Ruth Cooke.

On July 3, 1942, in South Bend, he married Martha Patterson, who survives.

Mr. Romine is also survived by two sons, Charles D. and his wife, Linda Romine of Granger, Ind., James E. and his wife, Linda Romine of Elkhart; nine grandchildren, Jonathan Romine, Rachael Halicki, Karissa, Alicia, Justin, Kathryn, Ryan, David and Phillip Romine; and by two sisters, Mary Jane Goff of Lawton, Mich., and Charllie Ann Campbell of Scottsdale, Ariz.

Mr. Romine was the co-owner of Goff Heating and Air Conditioning, and was a member of Clay United Methodist Church, South Bend. His love of family, church, music, and friends was a sustaining comfort in his life.

Memorial services for Mr. Romine will be at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 22, in Clay United Methodist Church. Rev. Sam Brookshire and Rev. David Jenkins will conduct the memorial services. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, South Bend. There will be no visitation.

Arrangements are being handled by the Welsheimer Funeral Home.

The family has requested that memorial contributions be made to Elkhart Community Hospice, 2020 Industrial Parkway, Elkhart, IN 46516; or to Clay United Methodist Church, 17646 Cleveland Road, South Bend, IN 46635.
