Shirley E. (Lord) Guendling

Shirley E. Guendling, 51, of 3209 Pleasant St., died at 6 am. today in Memorial Hospital after an illness of three months. She was born Jan. 24, 1921, in South Bend. She was married to Fred Guendling Sept. 21, 1941, in South Bend. He survives, along with a daughter, Mrs. Vickie Cook of Mishawaka; a son, Randall L. of South Bend; a granddaughter; three sisters, Mrs. Herbert Waldron of St. Louis, Mo., Mrs. Millard Jackson of Detroit and Mrs. Curtiss Heckaman of South Bend; and a brother, Donald Lord of South Bend.

Friends may call in the Ironwood-Jefferson Chapel of the Forest G. Hay and Son Funeral Home from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday by Mrs. Manley Miller, former first reader of the First Church of Christ Scientist of Mishawaka, where Mrs. Guendling was a member. Burial will be in the St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park. She was an employee of the Indiana State Police at the South Bend Post.
