SOUTH BEND - Mary "Marina" Christos, 90, of South Bend, IN, passed away at 6:45 p.m. Sunday, March 4, 2012, in The Hearth at Juday Creek. Mary was born April 19, 1921, in Manchester, NH, to Milton and Vivian (Batalis) Psalidas, soon moving to South Bend near the Christos family. As a teenager, Mary worked at The Philadelphia Restaurant and Candy Store.

She graduated in the Class of 1940 from South Bend Central High School. As an adult she worked at both the Bendix Corporation and South Bend Lathe Works as a Comptometer Operator.

On June 6, 1954, in St. Andrew Greek Orthodox Church, as Mary Psalidas, she married Christy A. Christos, who preceded her in death on July 13, 2005. Also preceding her in death were two sisters, Helen (Charlie) Neos and Stella (George) Mosko. Survivors include her daughter, Patricia (Dr. Geoffrey) Rogers of Granger, IN; her loving grandson, Taylor Christos Skidmore; one sister, Gloria (James) Kallimani of Merrillville, IN; one brother, Julius (Betsy) Psalidas of South Bend, IN; sister-in-law, Elizabeth (Joe) McNulty of South Bend, IN; and two step-daughters, Sylvia (Joe) Leverett of Indianapolis, IN, and Christyne McCain of South Bend, IN. She also leaves behind many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends who will miss her dearly.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, March 8, 2012, in St. Andrew Greek Orthodox Church. Burial will follow at Southlawn Cemetery. Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. today in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, where a Trisagion Service will be held at 5:00 p.m.

Mary was a lifelong member of St. Andrew Greek Orthodox Church, participating in the Greek Festival and bake sales, and she also sang in the church choir. She was a member and past president of the Daughters of Penelope and Good Samaritans, and was a volunteer at Memorial Hospital.
