Helen M. (Farkas) Horvath
Helen M. Horvath, 58, of 22531 Ice Trail, died at 2:35 p.m. Wednesday in her residence after a brief illness She was employed by the American Greeting Card Corp. of Cleveland. She was born on May 12, 1921 in South Bend and had lived here all her life. On Jan. 24, 1941, as Helen Farkas,. she married Louis W. Horvath, who survives. Also surviving is a son, Joseph M. at home; a sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Martin of South Bend; and two brothers, Joseph Farkas of South Bend and Michael Farkas of Chicago.
Services will be at 9 a.m. Saturday in St. Mary's of the Assumption Catholic Church. Rev. Thomas Lallak, pastor, and Msgr. John Sabo, will concelebrate the funeral mass. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. today in the Zahoran Funeral Home. The Altar and Rosary Society will recite the rosary at 7 p.m. today.
Mrs. Horvath was a member of the Daughters of Isabella, Ladies of Charity, St. Mary's of the Assumption Church, the Council for the Retarded of St. Joseph County, and was a recipient of the council's Lee Slaughter Memorial Award for out-standing service. She had served two terms on the board of directors for the council and had been a member of the Forever Learning Institute, altar and rosary society, and the William Penn Association.
