Helen E. (Cserpes) Hatala

July 30, 1921 - Dec. 18, 2002

Helen E. Hatala, 81, of Niles, MI, formerly of South Bend, passed away at 7:20 pm Wednesday, December 18, 2002 in Lakeland Hospital in Niles, MI. She was born on July 30, 1921 to the late Joseph and Theresa (Vargo) Cserpes in South Bend, IN, and was a lifelong area resident. Ms. Hatala retired on January 11, 1989 from the former Old Kent Bank in Niles, MI, after 10 years of service.

One son, Thomas Hatala, also preceded her in death on December 17, 1982.

She is survived by one daughter, Kathleen (Rocco) Calderone of Niles, MI; two grandchildren, Gina Calderone of Grand Rapids, MI; Joseph Calderone of Granger, IN; and two sisters, Rose Marnocha of South Bend, IN; and Margaret (John) Eaton of Middlebury, IN.

Ms. Hatala was a member of St. Mary's Parish in Niles, MI.

Friends may call from: 2-8 pm Sunday, December 22, 2002 in Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, IN, where a Parish Rosary will be prayed at 7:30 pm. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 am Monday, December 23, 2002 in Kaniewski Funeral Home, with Rev. Canon Marian M. Kencik officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery.
