EVANSVILLE - Clifford Harrison Luke, 94, after a long and fruitful life, passed away on Friday, April 11th. He graduated from South Bend High School and received an engineering degree from Valparaiso University.

In 1940 he married Harriet Baugher from Mishawaka. They shared 54 years of happy memories and experiences. They loved to travel and spend time with their family. Cliff was a policeman in South Bend for a few years, and then moved to Indianapolis to start his 30-year position with WIBC radio station. He was chief engineer for WIBC and took an active part in the worldwide broadcasting of the Indianapolis 500. He ended his career with seven years at the Voice of America in Washington, D.C. He and his wife retired in 1980 to Newburgh, IN. He was a member and deacon at the Zion United Church of Christ in Newburgh.

His wife, Harriet, and daughter, Cherie Ashburn, preceded Cliff in death. Two daughters, Charlotte and husband, Jack Webber of Newburgh, IN, and Jeanie and husband, John Adams of Houston, survive him. He also adored and left behind four grandchildren, Jeff and Todd Webber, Brandon and Ashley Holsworth, seven great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild to cherish his memory.

Burial will be at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger, at 1 p.m. Friday, April 18th. Condolences and special remembrance may be made online at www.koehlerfuneralhome.com.
