Frank Kinyon passed away Tuesday, May 11, at the age of 94. He died of natural causes. He was born in South Bend, Ind., on June 10, 1909, to Charles F. Kinyon and Ida Lawrence, deceased. He married Esther Rosheck May 20, 1934. Esther Kinyon passed away in October 1999.

Frank is survived by a daughter, Judith Sullivan of South Bend, and a son, Gerald Kinyon, and wife, Patricia of Carmel, Ind. He also leaves behind eight grandchildren, Debra (Don) Carlson, Kathleen Francoeur, Timothy (Christine) Sullivan, Patrick Sullivan, Jennifer (Timothy) Pletcher, Kevin Kinyon, Sgt. David (Amanda) Kinyon and Megan Kinyon. He has 11 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Frank has two sisters, Lucille Bowers of Englewood, Fla., and Edith McCann of Sanford, Fla.

He was also preceded in death by a sister, Helen Coryell; and by two brothers, John J. Kinyon and Ralph C. Kinyon.

He lived in South Bend, working for the Studebaker Company for 28 years. He was active with the Republican Party, serving as precinct committeeman and dis- trict chairman.  Frank's love for the water resulted in a cottage he built himself on Eagle Lake and a 34’ sailboat constructed and finished in a hangar at the South Bend Regional Airport. He sailed down the Mississippi River to Dunedin, Fla., where he and Esther lived for 27 years. He was assistant harbor master at Dunedin Marina and spent much time sailing. He sailed to the Bahamas for his 48th wedding anniversary.

He was an active committee member at the Lake Highlander Mobile Home Park and held a seat on the City Council as home own- ers association representative. He also enjoyed shooting an occasional game of pool with friends. Frank was proud of the plentiful supply of grapefruit grown from the tree he planted as a seed.  Frank will fondly be remembered by family and friends at the helm of his sailboat, eagerly providing a day of sailing to all interested in a Jaunt on the Gulf.

A memorial service will be held at Highland Cemetery Mausoleum in South Bend. The service will be at noon Saturday, May 15.  Arrangements are being handled by the McGann Funeral Home, University Area Chapel, 2313 E. Edison Road, South Bend.
