MISHAWAKA -Wladyslawa "Gladys" Ganser, 95, passed away at 11:54 p.m. on Thursday, September 20, in the Morningcrest Nursing and Memory Care, South Bend. Gladys was born on June 22, 1917, in South Bend, to Wladyslaw "Walter" and Antonina (Szecepaniak) Rejer.

She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Irene Van Paemel, Alicia Barone, Helen Malstaff, Eugene, Lucian, Chester, Ervin and Marion Rejer. On September 20, 1941, in the Log Chapel at Notre Dame, as the former Gladys Rejer, she married Richard A. Ganser, MD. He preceded her in death on October 15, 1980.

Surviving are her children, Judith Ann Rupley of Mishawaka, Richard A Ganser of Granger, Raymond C. (Charlotte) Ganser of Mishawaka, Catherine Ann Davis of Mishawaka, Mary Ann (Russell) Melling of Sorrento, FL, Barbara Ann (Terry) Gennicks of Mishawaka and Edward O. (Heather) Ganser of Fishers, IN. She has 19 grandchildren, 5 step-grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and 13 step-great-grandchildren.

Gladys was a lifelong area resident. She worked for Bendix in the Airplane Division during WW II. She also went through the two-year nursing program at St. Joseph Hospital School of Nursing. She was a volunteer at St. Joseph Medical Center, Mishawaka, was a member of the Medical Auxiliary, and chaired many charity Balls; she was also past president of the Medical Auxiliary. As a member of the Knights of Columbus, she served as one of their past presidents. She won the "Best Dressed" award for the City of Mishawaka two years in a row.

Gladys was a member of the Morris Park Country Club where she played in the 9 hole league and 18 hole league; she also was a member of the Bridge Club and Women's Golfers bowling league, where she bowled several 600 hundred series, one of them being when she was in her early 80s. Gladys was a kind and loving person. Everyone who knew her called her "Momma Doc."

Visitation for family and friends will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Monday, September 24, in Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka. A Mass of Christina Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m., with visitation one hour prior on Tuesday, September 25, in St. Monica Catholic Church, with Monsignor William Schooler officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery, Mishawaka.
