Dorothy (Marshall) DeBaets

SOUTH BEND - Dorothy DeBaets, 77, formerly of Hollywood Place, passed away at 3:10 a.m., Saturday, in Meridian Nursing Center - Cardinal. She was born on Oct. 27, 1918, in South Bend, and was a lifelong area resident. Mrs. DeBaets retired in 1980 after 25 years with the St. Joseph County Public Welfare Department.

On Oct. 9, daugh1948, in South Bend, as Dorothy Marshall, she married Joseph H. DeBaets, who preceded her in death on April 23, 1991.

She is survived by two sons, Tim of New York City, N.Y. and Terry of Nashville, Tenn.; and a grandson, Colin Jireaud DeBaets of Nashville.

Services will be held at 9:30 a.m., Tuesday, in Holy Cross Catholic Church, with Rev. Michael Belinski, CSC, officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m., Monday, in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Dr., South Bend, where a combined Rosary Altar Society and Parish Rosary will be recited at 4:30 p.m.

Mrs. DeBaets was a member of Holy Cross Church, Rosary Altar Society and Harvest House, Associates of St. Joseph, Disabled American Veterans and the Public Employees Retirement Association.
