SOUTH BEND -- Services for Abraham Zoss. 84, of 208 S. Tuxedo Drive. who died at 2:45 a.m. Thursday in Regency Place after an illness. will be at noon Sunday in Temple Beth-El. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery. Forest G. Hay Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to Temple Beth-El. Mr. Zoss retired in 1976 as the owner/operator of Royal Rubber Co. He was born April 9. 1909, in South Bend and was a lifelong area resident.
On Sept. 25. 1944. in South Bend. he married Mildred I. Warner. She survives with two daughters. Mary Zoss of Wheeling. III.. and Sara Ethier of St. Paul. Minn.: three sons. Thomas of South Bend. Paul of Des Moines. Iowa. and Robert of Evansville. Ind.: 12 grandchildren; a sister. Rose Linn of Michigan City; and a brother. Barney of South Bend.
He was a graduate of the University of Notre Dame and played football under Knute Rockne. At the age of 49 he suffered a debilitating stroke and made medical history by regaining the ability to walk and talk and was documented by the Mayo Clinic and medical journals. he was active in the YMCA. South Bend Rotary Club. American Red Cross and Blood Bank. He was a member of the temple. St. Joseph Matlock. Lodge 45. Scottish Rite Valley of South Bend. Orak Ternple. and Elks Lodge 235.
