Joseph H. Woodka

Joseph H. Woodka, 60, of 3002 Miami St., president of the Lock Joint Tube Co., Inc., died at 4 a.m. Sunday in his residence after an illness of five weeks. Mr. Woodka succeeded his father, Andrew Woodka Sr., a South Bend pioneer and founder of the company, as president of Lock Joint Tube Co.
He was active in civic and industrial affairs in this area, having served as general chairman of the manufacturer's .division of the Chamber of Commerce and on the board of directors. He was a member of the Indiana Manufacturers' Assn., the South Bend Country Club, Theta Xi fraternity, Elks Lodge BPOE 235, the Shoe and Slipper Club and the Notre Dame Club of St. Joseph Valley.
An active supporter of church interests, Mr. Woodka was a member of Father Nieuwland General Assembly, Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus; Santa Maria Council 553 of the K. of C. and the Holy Name Society of St. Matthew's Cathedral.
Born April 15, 1910 in South Bend, he had lived here all his life. He attended the University of Iowa and graduated from the University of. Notre Dame in 1932.
On June 27, 1932 in South Bend, he married Ann Grant, who survives. Other survivors include four sons, Denis of South Bend, Richard of Chicago, and Kenneth and Joseph, at home; a daughter, Mrs. Joan Bosse of Walled Lake, Mich.; seven grandchildren; and a brother, Louis S. Woodka, of Fort Wayne.
Calling Hours Friends may call after 7 p.m. today and from noon to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Hickey Funeral Home. Services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Matthew's Cathedral by Rt. Rev. Msgr. Joseph R. Crowley, rector. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery. A combined rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home by members of Santa Maria Council 553 and the Father Nieuwland General Assembly
