SOUTH BEND - Catherine Green, 102, of South Bend, IN, passed away Saturday, November 27, 2010, in the Sanctuary at St. Paul. Catherine was born April 13, 1908, in South Bend, IN, daughter of the late Samuel and Alda Knode.

Living most of her life in South Bend, she attended Colfax Elementary School and then Central High School. She was a graduate of Western Michigan University, Kalamazoo, MI, where she met her husband, the late Harold Green.

Catherine is survived by three daughters, Nanette Sickafoos (Bill) of The Villages, FL, Sara Pozil (Paul) from Greensboro, NC, and Barb Beck (Bob) South Bend, IN; nine grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

Upon graduation from college, she taught English and Home Economics in Stevensville, MI. After raising their three daughters, she went back to teaching at South Bend Muessel Elementary School.

She was active as a participant and leader in Bible Study Fellowship, was a longtime member of the Auxiliary of Memorial Hospital, and volunteered for various projects in the community. One of her lifelong passions was playing bridge. The family has been blessed by the many years they have had her love and wisdom as mother and grandmother.

Services will be Thursday, December 2nd, at 10 a.m. in Sanctuary at St. Paul. The family will greet visitors immediately following. Donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
