Fred B. Fiedler

Fred B. Fiedler, 77, of 806 E. Irvington Ave., died at 3:30 a.m. Wednesday in Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. Mr. Fiedler retired in 1973 from South Bend Supply Co. after 48 years as a salesman. He was born March 19, 1908, in South Bend, and was a lifelong area resident.

On Feb. 10, 1934, in South Bend, he married Marjorie Barber. She died Nov. 16, 1968. On July 18, 1970, in Cincinnati, he married Lois F. Fish, who survives. Also surviving are a daughter, Judith R. Snyder of Warrington, Pa.; a son, Terry D. of Durango, Colo.; three grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Crawford and Ruth Anderson, both of South Bend; and a brother, John E. of South Bend.

Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Friday in Welsheimer Funeral Home, 521 N. William St. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today in the funeral home.

He was a graduate of the former South Bend Central High School, helped found and was a charter member of the Indiana High School Basketball Hall of Fame and a supporter of local high school and University of Notre Dame athletic events. He was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels and the Cancer Society, and a member of Faith United Methodist Church for 45 years. Memorial contributions may be made to the church.
