John W. Burger

John W. Burger, 77, of Big Star Lake, Baldwin, Mich., formerly of South Bend, died at 7:30 a.m. Monday, Aug 19, 1985, in his home after an illness. Mr. Burger was a teacher for 39 years, and retired in 1969 from the South Bend Community School Corp., having taught at Oliver, Jefferson and Central High School. He was born on Oct. 7, 1907, in Montgomery County, Ohio, and lived most of his life in South Bend.

On Jan. 7, 1934, he married the former Mary E. Ryan, who survives with a daughter, Phyllis Farst of Johnson City, Tenn.; a son, Paul Burger of Edwards, Ill.; four grandchildren; a great-grandchild; an4 four sisters, Elizabeth Price of Elkhart, Ruth Jester and Pauline Weddle, both of South Bend, and Josephine Reinoehl of North Manchester.

There will be no services or visitation. Cremation will take place. The Vida Funeral Home, Baldwin, is in charge of arrangements. He was a World War II Navy veteran.
