Loretta W. (Kowalski) Martellaro

Loretta W.Martellaro, 78, of DeKalb, Ill., died on Sunday, Aug.15, in Rockford Memorial Hospital. Born on April 20, 1926, in South Bend, Ind., she was the daughter of Roman and Helen (Jaworski) Kowalski. Loretta was married to the late Dr.Joseph A.Martellaro on Aug.25, 1945, in South Bend.Loretta had lived in DeKalb since 1967, moving there from South Bend.Loretta was a member of St.May’s Catholic Church, DeKalb.
Loretta graduated from South Bend Central High School.
Survivors include sons, Joseph (Linda) Martellaro of Mishawaka, Ind., Chuck (Loraine) Martellaro of Rockton, Ill., and David (Christine) Martellaro of Plano, Texas; grandchildren, Maria, Patrizia, Alessandro, Mike, Jessica, Matt, Stephen, Patrick and Daniel;and sisters, Patricia (Frank) Hartman of Crystal Falls, Mich., and Geri (Dan) Kajzer of Fairfield, Ohio.
She was preceded in death by parents;husband, Joseph; sister, Joan Kowalski;and by brothers, Roman and Raymond.
Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, Aug.19, at 10:30 a.m.in St.Mary’s Catholic Church, DeKalb, with Father Kenneth Anderson officiating. Burial will be at St.Mary’s Cemetery.Visitation will be held today, Aug.18, from 5 to 8 p.m.in the Ronan-Moore- Finch Funeral Home, with a Rosary Service at 7:30 p.m.
