Frank J.Nemeth Sr

May 1, 1915 – Aug. 19, 2006

Frank J.Nemeth Sr., 91, of Makakilo, Hawaii, passed away Saturday, August 19, 2006, in Memorial Hospital of.South Bend.He was fortunate to be surrounded by his children at the time of his death. Frank was born on May 1, 1915, in South Bend, to Nicholaus and Mary (Vertichs) Nemeth, who preceded him in death.

On October 28, 1943, he married Florence O.Curtis in South Bend. She preceded him in death on January 10, 1978.He was also preceded in death by his sisters, Mary Nemeth and Annie Sigsby;and by his granddaughter, Amie Suzanne Nemeth.

Frank served his country during World War II and was honorably discharged from the Army in 1945.Following his discharge, Frank and Florence returned to South Bend where Frank worked for Studebaker’s until its closing.He went on to retire from Allied Stamping at the age of 65.Frank was a bowler and bowled at St. Anthony’s until its closing.He was an avid New York Yankees fan but tolerated the Chicago White Sox and the Cubs.Frank was a man of few words and fewer goodbyes.Frank was known for his penchant for.leaving social gatherings without a goodbye.The standard question at every gathering was “ Where’s Uncle Frank?”

Frank was born and lived in South Bend until December 2004 when he moved to Makakilo, Hawaii, to live with his daughter and son-in-law.

Surviving are two daughters, Suzanne (John L.) Noland of Makakilo, Hawaii, and Patricia Wargo of South Bend;two sons, Frank J.Nemeth Jr.of Mishawaka and David (Sharon) Nemeth of West Bloomfield, Michigan;seven grandchildren, Nicholas Nemeth, Andrew Nemeth, Jeffrey Nemeth, Matthew Nemeth, Benjamin Nemeth, Patrick Wargo and Sarah Wargo;two great-grandchildren, Amye Nemeth and Drew Nemeth;two sisters, Josephine Lakovits and Elsie Chevrie, both of South Bend; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 23, 2006, in the Zahoran Funeral Home, 1826 S.Kemble Avenue.Burial.
