Betty M. (Goss) Gerhold

SOUTH BEND - Betty M. Kent Gerhold, 97, of South Bend, died Wednesday, June 19, 2013, in her residence at Southfield Village. Mrs. Gerhold was born August 10, 1915, in Pontiac, MI, to the late Myra (Voorheis) and O.B. Goss, and had lived in the South Bend area most of her life.

On August 6, 1938, in South Bend, she married Robert C. Kent, who preceded her July 6, 1978. On March 2, 1984, she married William E. Gerhold, who preceded her in death December 22, 2008.

Betty is survived by her son, Robert Kent (Kathy) of Folsom, CA; stepson, Bruce Gerhold (Joanne) of Bartlesville, OK; granddaughters, Sarah Buescher (Matt) of Folsom, Katie Boden (Patrick) of Citrus Heights, CA, Betsey Willis (David) of Texas, Sally (Greg) of London, England, and Karen Horn of Niles, MI; great-granddaughters, Hailey Buescher and Alexa Boden; niece, Carol Hemenway of Decatur; and nephews, James (Patty) Goss of Dowagiac, MI, and Tom, John and Patrick Gerhold, all of South Bend.

She was preceded in death by her constant companion and best friend, her little Corgi, Stubby. Betty was a longtime active, faithful member of Memorial Presbyterian Church. She will long be remembered for her baking, especially at Christmas with her very special Kolaches.
