Virginia May (Brooke) Mittan

Virginia May Mittan, loving mother and grand-mother, passed may July 27, 1005, at the Hospice Care center in Loveland. Virginia was born March 11, 1915, in Bremen, Ind., to Welcome and Marie Brooke. She graduated from South Bend Central High School.

She married Melvin Mittan on May 21, 1933, in South Bend, Ind. They moved to Colorado in 1956. After living in many cities in Colorado, Boulder became home. She was happy being a homemaker and enjoyed time with special friends. In 1982, she moved to Montrose and attended the Christian Church and was active in Women of the Word. She moved in 1997 to Fort Collins to live with her daughter and son-in-law. She enjoyed going to Elderhaus, crossword puzzles, Lincoln Center productions and dining out with family and friends. She also loved her special cat, Hobo.

She is survived by her son, Jerry, and wife, Alice, of Longmont, daughter, Becky and husband, Red, of Fort Collins; granddaughter, Kim, of Longmont; grandson, Steve and wife, Stephanie, and great-granddaughter, Shelby, all of Southfield, Mich. 

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Her wishes were to be cremated with no service.  A very heartfelt thank you to all the fifth-floor nursing staff at Poudre Valley Hospital and the wonderful, caring staff at the Hospice Care Center at McKee Medical Center in Loveland.  Contributions can be made to the Larimer Humane Society and Hospice at McKee Medical Center or just give your pets or children a hug.
