LUCY (HOSKINS) HIATT

Lucy Hiatt March 15, 1928 - Aug. 5, 2015 SOUTH BEND - Lucy Hoskins Hiatt was born to the union of Andrew & Nancy (Crowder) Hoskins on March 15, 1928, in Sumner, Mississippi. She was the fifth child.

Her siblings preceded her in death: Joe, Rosa, Henry and J.W. Hoskins.

She confessed a belief in Christ at the age of nine at New Bethel Baptist Church in Clarksdale, MS. She and her Mother moved to South Bend, Indiana, in 1943 where they joined St. John MB Church, Pastor, Reverend R.B. Alexander.

She attended and graduated from Central High School.

Laque Hiatt & Lucy Hoskins were united in marriage in 1949, with Reverend B.L. White officiating.

She retired from Bendix Aircraft & Brakes (Division) Corporation. During her lifetime, she served her church as a Red Circle Girl (Missionary Dept.), Young Adult Choir Member, Sunday School Department, Missionary Department, twice as Church's Secretary, cooked on Third Sunday of each month, and wherever she could be of service. She served as Financial Secretary for the Indiana Missionary State Women's Home & Foreign Mission Auxiliary for more than 35 years.

Survivors include two nephews, Michael R. Jackson of Granger, IN, and Gregory (Karen) Jackson of Aurora, IL; two great-nieces, Michelle Carroll of Indianapolis, IN, and Madison Jackson of Granger, IN; two great- nephews, Michael R. Jackson Jr. of Granger, IN, and Anthony Jackson of Aurora, IL; three great- great-nieces, Meisha, Michaela and Mariah Waters, all of Indianapolis, IN; two great-great-nephews, Issac Hoffman of South Bend, IN, and Maron Waters of Indianapolis, IN; along with other relatives and friends.

The family would like to thank her personal caregivers, Ophelia and Johnnie Rogers, Verlean Hill and Stephania Pigee. Thank You very much for all you have done. The family would also like to thank Greater St. John for the huge role they have played in Auntie's life.

Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 10, 2015, at Greater St. John Baptist Church, with viewing taking place at the church from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Arrangements entrusted to Alford's Mortuary. www.Alfordsmortuaryinc.com
