Russell R. McDaniel

SOUTH BEND — Memorial services for Russell R. McDaniel, 75, of Sun City Center, Fla., formerly of South Bend, who died Sept 25 in his home, were held Oct 1, in Sun City Center Methodist Church. Cremation has taken place. Lewers Funeral Home, Ruskin, Fla., handled arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society. Mr. McDaniel was owner of the former Russell's Supermarket.

He was born Sept. 14, 1914, in Chicago and lived in South Bend before moving to Florida in 1984. On Nov. 21, 1940, in South Bend, he married Helen Hansen, who survives. Also surviving are a daughter, Karen Bartlett of Grand Rapids, two grandchildren; and a sister, Barbara Ball of South Bend. A son, James R., died in 1976.

He was a veteran of World War II, a graduate of the former Central High School and a former member of Evangelical United Methodist Church and the South Bend Masonic Lodge.
