Esther Mattes

Miss Esther Mattes, 66, of 413 S. 25th St., died at 1:45 a.m. Saturday at Memorial Hospital, following an extended illness. She was born in South Bend on Aug. 27, 1911, and was a lifetime resident. Miss Mattes was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Thalia Sorority and the South Bend Writer's Club She had attended Wooster College, Webster, Ohio

Surviving is a sister, Mrs. Mary Brim. of Taylor. Mich., and a brother Lee H. Mattes of South Bend. Services .will be at 1 p.m Monday in the Welsheimer Funeral Home, 521 N. William St. Rev. Warren H. Wilkewitz, associate pastor of the First Presbyterian Church of South Bead. will officiate. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Memorial contributions may be made to the donor's choice.
