Clayton E. Jodon, 84, of Lake Placid, Fla., formerly of East Cedar Street, South Bend, Ind., died in his home in Florida on Friday afternoon, June 12. Mr. Jodon was born on November 26, 1913 in South Bend to Harry and Lestie (Feather) Jodon and lived in South Bend until his retirement in 1979.

On February 26, 1938 he married Violet Sanders of South Bend, who survives. He is also survived by three daughters, Mrs. Brent (Alice) Nichols of Traverse City, Mrs. Jon (Joyce JoAnn) Durand of Los Angeles, Calif., and Mrs. Mark (Gail) Hughes of Smithville, Texas, two grandsons, and two great grandchildren. Survivors also include a brother. James, of Irving, Texas, and a sister, Mrs. Edward (Joyce) Haines of Niles, Mich. He was preceded in death by his son, Dale, and his parents.

Clayton graduated from Central High School in 1932 and also the University of Notre Dame as a chemical engineer. He retired from Bendix and was the owner of Michiana Plating, established after World War II As a teenager he was known for his tenor voice and was soloist for many local churches. He also played piano for several local dance bands in the 30's He was an avid fisherman,

While living in South Bend he was a member of Sunnyside Presbyterian Church, Rotary Club, South Bend Masonic Lodge 294 F & A.M., the South Bend Elks, and the Electro Platers Society Memorial services were held in Lake Placid on Monday, June 15, at 11:00 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church with the Reverend Raymond Cameron Jr officiating. The body has been cremated. Memorial contributions may be made to Good Shepherd Hospice of Mid-Florida, PO Box 1884, Sebring, Fla. 33871.
