Henry DeVos

Henry "Hank" DeVos, 93 passed away on Thursday, November 23 in Harbor Chase Assisted Living in Gainesville, Florida following an extended battle with Alzheimer's type dementia. Mr. DeVos was born on September 3, 1913, as the only son of August and Mary Louise (Lodivika Van Autreve) DeVos. In 1939 he married the former Romaine Marie Louise Bert who preceded him in death on February 13, 1977. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Marie Louise DeVos Butler in March of this year. Surviving Hank are two nieces, Linda (Paul) Rodenizer and Toni (Donald G.) Morrison; and a nephew, Henry Butler, all of Gainesville, Florida.

Hank was a purchasing agent for Bendix Corporation for 20 years before he retired in 1970. He was a Veteran of the United States Coast Guard Reserve during World War II, a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church in Granger, Elks Club and Bendix Retirees Club.

There will be no visitation as per Hank's wishes. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Pius X Catholic Church at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, November 29. Entombment will take place in Riverview Cemetery Portage Mausoleum, South Bend. Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka is handling the arrangements.
