William A. Burkus March 18. 1913 - Nov 11. 1998 South Bend - William A. Burkus, 85, of Redlands, Calif.. formerly of South Bend, Ind.. passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 11, in the Redlands Medical Center. Mr. Burkus was a retired executive with the Ford Motor Company, and served in the Air Force during World War II. He was born on March 18, 1913, in Hungary to John and Helen Burkus, who both preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Karolyn K. Burkus-Pritchett, who died on Oct. 4, 1989.

He is survived by three grand-children, William R. Burkus and Laurin Schaphorst, both of South Bend. and Stephanie Kabay of Yucipa. Calif.; six great-grandchildren and two great-great-grand-children; a brother. John (Shirley) Burkus of South Bend; and by three nieces and two nephews.

Services will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 23, in the Zahoran Funeral Home, 1826 S. Kemble Avenue. Friends may call one half hour prior to services. Burial will follow in the Highland Cemetery In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or to the American Kidney Foundation.
