George W. Schrop, 69, of 834 S. 28th St., died at 8:20 p.m. Tuesday in his home after an illness.

Mr. Schrop retired in 1981 from Indiana & Michigan Electric Co., after 43 years of service. He was born Aug. 13, 1916, in South Bend, and was a lifelong area resident.

On June 7, 1940, in South Bend, he married Doris Bahde, who survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Joanne Ash of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Barbara Wood of New Market, Tenn.; a son, Fredrick J. of Des Plaines, Ill.; and eight grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Welsheimer Funeral Home, 521 N. William St. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home.

Mr. Schrop was a member of United Commercial Travelers, a veteran of World War II and a Notre Dame alumnus.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Lutheran Church of Our Redeemer.
