Marion G. Much, 83, of 144 35th Street Drive SE,Cedar Rapids, Iowa, formerly of South Bend, IN,died in Westridge Care Center, Cedar Rapids, following a lingering illness, on Saturday, Dec. 25. Marion was born on May 3, 1916 in Rice Lake, Wisconsin, to Syver A. and Mille G. Thompson Johnson.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Nels Johnson; and by a daughter, Beverly Much.

She married Alfred R. Much on Aug. 17, 1940 in South Bend. She was a secretary for the South Bend Community School Corporation of 17 years, retiring in 1975. She is a member of First Congregational Church in Cedar Rapids, Zion United Church of Christ in South Bend, and graduated from South Bend Central High School in 1934.

She is survived by her husband, Alfred; a daughter,Barbara Taylor and husband Larry of Cedar Rapids; two grandchildren, Lisa Taylor of Cedar Rapids, and Jeff Taylor and wife,Nicole, of Seattle, Wash.; three sisters, Dorothy Beghtel and Marguerite Johnson, both of South Bend, and Ruth Busch of Wilmette, Ill; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Ervin and Theo Much of Decatur, Mich.;and Roy amd Alma Bolen of Osceola, Ind.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services for Marion will be at 11 a.m. today, Dec. 30 in Zion United Church of Christ, 713 East Wayne Street, South Bend. Rev. Dr. Robert Manning from the church will conduct the services. Burial will be at Highland Cemetary, South Bend.

The familhy has requested that memorial contributions be made to Zion United Church of Christ, 715 E. Wayne Street, South Bend, In. 46617, the American Parkinson's Disease Association, 1250 Highland Bouldrvrd, Suite #43, Stanton, NY 10305.
