SOUTH BEND — Services for Florence M. Gordon, 78, of East Calvert Street, who died at 4 am. Monday in the home of her daughter on East Fox Street, will be at 11 am. Thursday in Ridgedale Presbyterian Church. Burial will be at Highland Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Forest G. Hay Funeral Home, 435 S. Iron-wood Drive. Mrs. Gordon retired in 1977 from Healthwin Hospital as a nurse's aide. She was born July 23, 1912, in South Bend and was a lifelong area resident.

On July 17, 1937, in South Bend, as Florence Slates, she married Purdue Gordon. He died in 1978. She is survived by two daughters, Barbara Wirt of South Bend and Phyllis Woolbright of Kennewick, Wash.; a son, John of Memphis, Tenn.; 11 grand-children; four great-grandchildren; and a brother, Wilbur Slates of Pewaukee, Wis.

She was a member of the church and a former deacon. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of St. Joseph County or to the church.
