Charles R. Eger

Memorial services for Charles R. "Chuck" Eger, 74, of 407 S. 26th St., who died at 8 p.m. Tuesday in Cape Coral (Fla.) Hospital, while visiting his family, will be at 1 p.m. Jan. 7 in Hickey Funeral Home, 3516 E. Jefferson Blvd. Cremation will take place. Friends may call after the services at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Mr. Eger was a salesman for the former Jim Hammes Oldsmobile dealership for 25 years and the bailiff for Judge Peter F. Nemeth. He was born Aug. 4, 1914, in South Bend and was a lifelong area resident.

He is survived by three daughters, Joan Martin and Jill Eggert, both of Cape Coral, and Judy Lantvit of McHenry, Ill.; a son, Michael of Fort Collins, Colo.; 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a brother, John V., of Ormond Beach, Fla.

He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 36 Auxiliary and St. Anthony De Padua Catholic Church and was a former member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church.
