E. Virginia Dodd, 86, of East Ada Street, in New Carlisle, Indiana, passed away on Monday, May 30, 2005, in her home of natural causes. Mrs. Dodd was born on November 13, 1918, in South Bend, Indiana to the late George and Esther (Fisher) Peterson. She retired from New Prairie High School on July 1, 1981, as the Secretary Treasurer, and previously served in that position from 1957-1969, at the former New Carlisle High School.

On April 7, 1940, as E. Virginia Peterson, she married Walter C. Dodd, who preceded her in death on September 2, 2000. Surviving are her sons, Ronald (Marie) Dodd of New Carlisle, Richard (Adonica) Dodd of Hanna, Indiana, Douglas (Karen) Dodd of New Carlisle; grandchildren, Eric Dodd, Shannon Bochat, Megan Sprague, Richard Dodd, Jr, Taylor Dodd, Nolan Dodd; great grandchildren, Jordan, Sarah, Loran, Lincoln; her sister, Doris (Arnold) Miller of New Carlisle; and her brother, Dale Peterson of South Bend.

Mrs. Dodd was a member of the Eastern Star and served as past Worthy Matron, was a 1936 graduate of South Bend Central High School, a member of the Delta Theta Tau Sorority in New Carlisle, the Chums Club of New Carlisle, and wintered in Scottsdale Arizona, where she served as President of the Road Runners Resort Association, and was a member with her husband Walt, of the Rock Hounds in Arizona. She also received many awards in her youth through the 4-H, at the State demonstration contest and with Camp Eberhart.

Visitation will be held from 3-7 PM Friday, June 3, 2005, at the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 201 S. Filbert Street, New Carlisle, Indiana. A memorial service will be held at 11 AM Saturday, June 4, 2005, at the New Carlisle Wesleyan Church, 32645 Early Road, New Carlisle, Indiana 46552.
