John Howard Lane

John Howard Lane, 46, son of Mr. and Mrs. Howard Lane of South Bend, died early Monday in the DeKalb Convalescent Center, Atlanta, Ga., after a four-month illness.

Mr. Lane resided at 1110 Bromley Rd., Avondale Estates, Ga., with his wife. the former Frances Hutchins of South Bend, whom he married Oct. 23, 1943; a daughter. Beverly Jo, and three sons, John Weston, a student at the University of Georgia, and Gregory Stull and Ronald Patrick. Two brothers, J. Patrick Lane of South Rend and Thomas Lane of Kensington, Md., also survive.

Mr. Lane, who was the great-grandson of the late John B. Stull, publisher and editor of the defunct South Bend Times, was born in South Bend on Jan. 1, 1918, residing here until 1946 when he moved to Cincinnati. A former Studebaker employee, he had been the used vehicle manager of the Dodge Corp. since 1955. He was treasurer of the Columbia Presbyterian Church. Atlanta, and a member of South Bend Lodge 294, F&AM.
