BRADLEY F. THOMAS

Bradley F. Thomas Sunrise Jan. 23, 1924 - Sunset April 18, 2007 Beloved "Daddy" The Lord called daddy home on April 18th 2007 at the age of 83. He was the devoted and loving father of Carol, Lynda, June, and Vicky. Bradley was born January 23, 1924 to Gordon and Bertha Thomas in Michigan City, Indiana. When his father, a dentist, passed away, his mother married Mr. George Toodle.

He graduated from Central Senior High School in South Bend, Indiana in 1942.

Bradley joined the U.S. Army in 1943 and served honorably for over a decade during WWII and the Korean War. He especially enjoyed playing the clarinet in the U. S. Army band.

In 1949, Bradley met and married Doris Feagin and to this union they had four daughters. After leaving the military, Bradley worked as a civil servant at Ft. Lewis Commissary for over 23 years until he retired in 1977. Bradley also played the drums for over 30 years with the Mel Washington Trio (also known as Wash's Combo). His love for music continued throughout his life. He especially loved big band and jazz music, and he "dabbled" in playing the piano. Daddy enjoyed fiery conversations about a variety of subjects. His knowledge of faith, politics, and music was expansive. He also enjoyed discussing world affairs, the economy, and sports (he was an avid baseball fan). He loved books and read all types of literature. He was especially knowledgeable about the Bible and was devoted to his Christian faith. He was a faithful member of Allen AME Church for many years.

Bradley was preceded in death by his mother Bertha and father Gordon, his step-father, George B. Toodle and brother Gordon R. Thomas, Jr.

He leaves behind his four devoted daughters Carol Hill, Lynda Thomas, June Jamison, and Vicky T. Robinson; his special love for the last 32 years, Gloria Morgan; nieces Joan Austin-Morrow and Josie Jeffries; five grandchildren, Robert Garrett Jr., Damon Hill, Shauna Martin, Ricky Jamison and Brian Jamison; and a host of great grandchildren.

He will be deeply missed by all. The family expresses a special thank you to Fred Meyer Pharmacy and the cashiers at Top Foods for their support. We would also like to give a very special thank you to Gloria Morgan for taking great care of our father for these many years. Your love and devotion is greatly appreciated and we love you for it.

Viewing will be held from 3-9 PM, Tuesday, April 24th at Mountain View Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM, Wednesday, April 25th in the Mountain View Garden Chapel. A reception will follow at Allen AME Church at 1223 Martin Luther King Jr., Tacoma. Online guest book can be signed at www.mountainviewtacoma.com .
