From the Iowa City Press:
The death last week of Ernest F. Pence, 61, deprived Cedar Rapids of one of its more exemplary citizens. An attorney here for many years, Mr. Pence generously gave his talents to the public service + most notably with the Cedar Rapids Community School District Board, 1961-73.
He served two terms as board president. A man of considerable charm as well as ability, he will be greatly missed. Our sincerest sympathy to his family.
