Edward John Pilarski

NILES - Edward J. Pilarski, 65, of South 13th Street, died of an illness at 8:30 p.m. Friday in his home.
Mr. Pilarski retired in 1990 from Niles Community Schools as a teacher after 38 years of service.
He was born Nov. 7, 1928, in South Bend. He lived in Niles for 32 years, coming from South Bend. On Oct. 3, 1953, in South Bend, he married Teresa M. Ferraro.
She survives with two daughters, Dianne L. Schmitz of Vernon Hills, III., and Karen L. Zappia of Crown Point. Ind.; three sons, Edward J. and David M., both of Mishawaka; and Jon S. of Niles; two grandchildren; two sisters, Jane Claef (Calef) of Mishawaka and Virginia Campbell of South Bend; and a brother, Harry E. "Bud" of Naples, Fla.
He was a member of Saint Mark's Catholic Church, Michigan Education Association, National Education Association and Ring Lardner Retirement Club.
He was an Army veteran of World War II.
He was a 1951 graduate of Purdue University, West Lafayette, Ind., and received his master's degree from the University of Notre Dame.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the church. Burial will be at Highland Cemetery, South Bend.
Friends may call from 3 to 6 and 7 to 9 p.m. Michigan Standard Time, Monday in McGann Funeral Home, 2313 E. Edison Road, where a wake service will be at 7 p.m..
