William A. Mass

William Alfred Mass, 74, of Bayhill Drive, South Bend, Ind., passed away after a battle with cancer on Wednesday, June 13, in the home of his daughter in Geneva, Ill. He was born Sept. 10, 1926, in South Bend, to the late William H. Mass and Anna M. Juricek.

On June 27, 1953, in South Bend, he married Charlotte Kristowski, who also preceded him in death Jan. 23, 2000. He is survived by his children, Mary Ann (Dave) Stearn of Geneva, Ill., Thomas (Gayle) Mass of Indianapolis, Ind., Diann (Barton) Scofield of Woodland, Calif., and Timothy Mass of South Bend; six grandchildren, Laura, Michelle, Carol, Brittany, Hannah Mass and Sharla Steam; a brother, Richard (Joan) Mass of Osceola, Ind., and sisters-in-law, Irma Ray of Loveland. Colo . Ruth Klahr of South Bend, Florence Pischke of Falls Church, Va.. and Mildred Fittering of Lakeville. Ind.: and by several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Mass was the former owner of A.D. Mass and Sons Heating and Air Conditioning in South Bend. retiring alter 43 years of service to the community. Mr. Mass was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church and served in the Army Air Corps during World War II.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 29, in St Paul's Lutheran Church, 51490 Laurel Road. with Pastor Gregory Fiechtner officiating. Cremation will lake place and burial will be at Riverview Cemetery. Friends may :all from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday. June 28, in the WELSHEIMER NORTH FUNERAL HOME. 17033 Cleveland Road. Memorial contributions may be made to the church or to the Fox Valley Hospice, 200 Whitfield Srive, Geneva, IL 60134.
