SOUTH BEND - Patricia J. Schoppe Pejza, 83, residing in South Bend, passed away peacefully at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, February 19, 2011, in the Sanctuary at St. Paul's. She was born May 20, 1927, a daughter of Sidney and Margaret (McCorkle) Kistler, and remained a lifelong resident of this community.

She was a 1945 graduate of Central High School.

On October 12, 1947, at Faith United Methodist Church, South Bend, she was united in marriage to Jerome A. Schoppe. He passed away April 24, 1975. Then on May 20, 1977, she was married to Eugene Pejza. He preceded her in death on December 31, 2004. She was also preceded by her twin sister, W. Jean Hostetler, on March 3, 2002.

Pat retired as secretary at the Chamber of Commerce Convention Bureau. She was a member of St. Peter's United Church of Christ, Sigma Phi Gamma, the American Business Women's Association where she was awarded the Woman of the Year Award in 1988. She also volunteered at the Memorial Hospital Gift Shop for 11 years.

She is survived by her daughter, Kathleen Molnar of Portland, OR; her son and daughter-in-law, Jeffrey and Peggy Schoppe of Granger; two grandchildren, Jason Schoppe and Jamie (Becki) Schoppe; a great-granddaughter, Briley Schoppe; three stepdaughters and a stepson; and her brother-in-law, Jack Hostetler of South Bend.

Pat's family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to the nurses and staff at St. Paul's for the compassion and excellent care she received while living there.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, February 22nd, in the Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, 3718 South Michigan Street, South Bend. Eldon Heatwole, chaplain at the Sanctuary at St. Paul's, will officiate. Graveside services and burial will follow at Southlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until service time on Tuesday. Expressions of sympathy on behalf of Mrs. Pejza may be made to Pet Refuge, 2300 West 6th Street, Mishawaka, IN 46544.
