William Webster June 22, 1923 - Jan. 25, 2015 SOUTH BEND - William D. Webster, 91, passed away at 6:55 AM Sunday, January 25, 2015, at North Woods Village Memory Care, Mishawaka, Indiana. William was born on June 22, 1923, in Indianapolis, IN, to the late Ernest E. and Ruby Ann (Phebus) Webster, and had been a lifelong resident of the South Bend area, and graduated from South Bend Central High School in 1941.

On October 23, 1948, in South Bend, he was united in marriage to Barbara J (Hinkson) Webster, who survives.

William proudly served our country in the United States Marines and was a Past National Commandant of the Marine Corps League. William was a former Vice President of First Source Bank, where he worked for 37 years, before retiring in 1990. During his career he served as Director of the International Banking Department and the Travel Department. William served on the South Bend Planning Commission and was also an original board of director member for the Center for Hospice. William and his wife, Barbara, attended Trinity Evangelical Free Church, South Bend, where they were actively involved. William received an Associate Degree in 1997 and was ordained in the Evangelical Free Church, serving four years as Associate Pastor at Trinity Evangelical Free Church.

William's main goal in life was to be a good follower of Jesus Christ. The greatest joy of his life was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He had a genuine interest in helping and caring for people. He was a supporter of Gideon's International, Camp Ray Bird Ministries, Real Services, Hope Ministries and Prison Fellowship Ministry. He and Barbara enjoyed time together in their travels to all 50 states and many foreign countries.

William is survived by his loving wife, Barbara of South Bend; daughters, Cynthia (Micheal) Patty of Granger, Ann (Terry) Snyder of Elkhart; son, Stephen (Mary) Webster of South Bend; five grandchildren, Meggan (Jason) Fink, Micheal Patty, Meredith Patty, Benjamin (Corinne Andersen) Webster and Garrett Snyder; and two great-grandchildren, Sydney Jean Webster and Greta Leigh Webster.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest E. and Ruby Ann Webster; sisters, Mary Jane Freese and Elizabeth Safford; and four brothers, Leonard, Robert, Leo and Raymond Webster.

The family wants to extend their deep appreciation to Center for Hospice and the nurses and caregivers at North Woods Village Memory Care for their loving and compassionate care.

Funeral services for William D. Webster will be 10:00 AM Friday, January 30, 2015, at Trinity Evangelical Free Church, 61770 Miami Road, South Bend, IN 46614. Pastor Steve Meck along with Pastor Craig Clapper and Pastor Kevin Meek will officiate. Burial and Military Rites will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola. Friends may visit with the family from 4:00 8:00 PM Thursday at Palmer Funeral Home River Park Chapel, 2528 Mishawaka Ave., South Bend, IN 46615, and one hour prior to services at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Evangelical Free Church or to Camp Ray Bird Ministries, 25765 Edison Road, South Bend, IN 46628.
