Martha A. Van DeWalle Horvath

SOUTH BEND - Martha A. (VanDeWalle) Horvath, 85, died at 6:50 AM Tuesday, July 21, 2009, in her home surrounded by her family.

She was born on February 5, 1924, in South Bend, Indiana, and was a lifetime resident. On December 27, 1941, in South Bend, IN, she married Steve J. Horvath, who preceded her in death on November 7, 2007. Martha is survived by two sons, Michael (Sandi) Horvath of Granger and Steve (Barb) Horvath of North Liberty; her daughter, Patti (John) Susil of Elkhart; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; one sister, Mary Ann (Gene) Fredericks of Bonita Springs, FL; and her sister-in-law, Rose VanDeWalle of South Bend.

Her daughter, Sharon Peterson, and her brother, C.R. VanDeWalle, preceded her in death.

Martha enjoyed playing Bingo and day trips to the Blue Chip and Four Winds Casino. She enjoyed spending time with her family. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who will live in her family's hearts forever.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, July 24, in the Palmer Funeral Home - River Park, 2528 Mishawaka Ave., South Bend. Rev. Ed Erskin will officiate. Friends may visit with the family from 10:00 AM until time of services Friday in the funeral home. Contributions in memory of Martha A.
