James N. Mitchell

James Mitchell, 90, of Mishawaka, IN., passed away on Sunday, November 24, 2013 at Fountainview Golden Living Center in Mishawaka.

James was born on May 8, 1923 in Braidwood, Scotland to the late Alex and Janet (Brownlie) Mitchell. On December 7, 1946 James married Rosa A. Sykonnyk in San Diego, CA. James and Rosa was married for 60 years. Rosa passed away on December 31, 2006. James is survived by a brother William and Doris Mitchell of South Bend, IN., his nieces Vicki (Gary) Vukovits , of South Bend, IN., Sue (John) Nagle of Iowa, nephew Bryan Mitchell of Indiana along with several other nieces and nephews. James is also survived by his brother-in-laws, William and Catherine Moshak of Mishawaka, and John and Helen Moshak of Skokie, IL.

James was so proud of serving his country in the United States Navy during WWII , receiving an honorable discharge on November 1, 1948. James was a member of the National LST and the Indiana LST Association. James retired from the Bendix Corporation as a Magnetic Inspector after 33 years of service. James enjoyed during woodworking projects on his lathe, restoring old fishing rods and making his own fly fishing lures.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00pm, with one hour visitation prior, with Rev. Ervin Mize officiating, on Wednesday, November27, 2013, at the Bubb Funeral Chapel 3910 N. Main St, Mishawaka. The family requested in lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to Heartland Hospice 826 W. Edison Rd., Mishawaka, IN 46545.
