Jeannette Ann (Hafer) Kenline
Jeannette, 88, of Bluffton passed away on Sunday, at River Terrace Estates. Mrs. Kenline was a homemaker and supportive pastor's wife to her husband Reverend Bruce Kenline. Jean graduated in 1941 from South Bend Central High School and served as a mechanic in the United States Navy from 1944 – 46. Jean earned her bachelor's degree in business from Indiana University and later earned her master's degree in education from St. Frances University.
From 1967 until 1971, Jean along with her sister-in-law, Marjorie Crosbie owned the Markle Drug Store. Jean regularly worked as a substitute teacher at Norwell High School. She was also an active member of the WAVES in Sarasota, Florida. She enjoyed spending her leisure time knitting and sewing. Jean was born April 15, 1923 in South Bend, Indiana, the daughter of Amos and Ethel (Grosjean) Hafer. She was united in marriage to Reverend Bruce Kenline on August 9, 1947.
Her husband survives. Additional survivors include three sons: Greg (Rhonda) Kenline of Albion, Kim (Janice) Kenline of Ossian, and Scott (Phyllis) Kenline of Fort Wayne; eight grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on Friday, June 3, 2011 at the funeral home with Pastor Gary Aupperle officiating.
Preferred memorials in honor of Jean can be made to The Riley Children's Hospital.
